The most well known of all contemporary writers was Charles Dickens. He is most famous for his showing of how the working class lived and how they suffered, but also by his sense of humor. The one work of Dickens that still is looked to yearly today around the world is A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol tells the story of the greedy Ebenezer Scrooge, and a hard working family in need at Christmas time. Young and old alike can tell you the story of a Christmas Carol all over the world. This contemporary writing style of Dickens has stuck around for over 100 years after it was published, and has become a popular children’s film as well.
